A FiveM roleplay server can still have its resources and database intact yet reject incoming players because its server binary is too old. Cfx's October 15, 2026 compatibility deadline is now past, so this is an active troubleshooting issue rather than an upcoming maintenance reminder.
The policy was announced August 20, alongside support for GTA Online's Kortz Center Heist update. It is separate from the October 21 change to FiveM and RedM server-listing metadata. This guide focuses on FXServer connection compatibility and the safest recovery steps for administrators.
FiveM servers need FXServer build 35245 or newer.
Cfx announced that connections to FXServer builds older than 35245 would stop being possible after October 15, 2026. If players see an end-of-life warning or cannot join, check the server artifact version first. Back up server data, install a supported Recommended artifact using your host's procedure, and verify framework, resources and game-build configuration after restart.
FiveM FXServer compatibility deadline October 15, 2026; verified November 1, 2026What changed on October 15, 2026?
Cfx designated FXServer 35245 as the new Recommended version on August 20, 2026 and explicitly set October 15 as the end of the compatibility window. Its announcement says connections to older FXServer versions would no longer be possible after that date. Build 35245 is the stated minimum threshold, not a claim that it is the newest available artifact on every later date.
The same announcement changed how FiveM handles GTA V title updates: the client runs the latest stable GTA V executable while loading the title-update content selected by the server through sv_enforceGameBuild. The old sv_replaceExeToSwitchBuilds setting was declared fully deprecated. Do not confuse the server artifact version with the GTA game-build number.
How to tell whether the server artifact is the problem
Check the FXServer build number in your host's console or server startup information. If it is below 35245, it does not meet the compatibility threshold described in Cfx's announcement. The Cfx end-of-support guide also explains the distinction between a gray warning, where joining may still work, and a red end-of-life warning, where the owner must update.
If the build is already supported, investigate other causes rather than assuming the deadline explains every failed connection. Look at startup errors, framework dependencies, resources, registration status, and the networking configuration. A missing public listing and a failed direct connection are different symptoms.
How to update FXServer without risking your community
Schedule a maintenance window and create independent backups of your server.cfg, resource folders, framework files, txAdmin data, and external database if one is used. Record the currently installed artifact and mod/resource versions. A backup should be restorable, not merely a copy that has never been tested.
Use the update method provided by your hosting panel, or download the current Recommended server artifact from Cfx's official server-download flow if you manage the installation. Stop the server cleanly, update the binaries according to the supported procedure, and preserve the existing server data rather than overwriting it with a new blank recipe.
Start the server and inspect the console for artifact-version, resource, and database errors. Test a real player connection, spawning, voice, permissions, inventory, and any custom framework flows before declaring the maintenance complete. If your host controls the artifact, ask the host to update it rather than modifying protected runtime files.
Check sv_enforceGameBuild and your resources
FXServer build 35245 and GTA game build 35245 are not interchangeable concepts. The server binary version controls the compatibility deadline; sv_enforceGameBuild chooses which GTA title-update content clients load. Cfx documents this setting as a startup-only option, so changes require a server restart.
After upgrading, verify that your framework, map assets, streamed content and scripts behave correctly with the chosen game build. Remove reliance on sv_replaceExeToSwitchBuilds because Cfx announced its deprecation. Do not change the enforced game build just to match the artifact number; use a supported game build that your server content requires.
What to tell players when a connection fails
Ask players for the exact message and time of failure. If it is the Cfx end-of-life warning, explain that the server operator must update the artifacts; reinstalling FiveM on the player's computer is not the prescribed fix.
After the update, test direct connection as well as discovery in the server browser. If the server is reachable directly but missing from listings, use Cfx's separate listing and network troubleshooting guidance. Keep the maintenance notice accurate: the compatibility deadline was October 15, not November 1.
A couple more questions
Is FXServer 35245 still the newest build?
Not necessarily. It is the minimum version named in Cfx's August 20 compatibility announcement. Check Cfx's current Recommended download rather than assuming the minimum is the latest.
Will updating the FXServer artifact delete my roleplay server?
Updating the server binary should not require replacing your resources or database, but installation mistakes and incompatibilities can still cause downtime or data loss. Make a verified backup before changing the runtime.
Is this the same as the FiveM Cfx Portal listing change?
No. The October 15 deadline concerns connections to outdated server artifacts. The October 21 Cfx Portal change concerns public listing metadata.
Does sv_enforceGameBuild need to equal 35245?
No. It selects GTA title-update content and is separate from the FXServer artifact build number. Choose the game build your server's content requires.
